Approximately 1 year ago, the Cincinnati Baillage had a lobster bake which raised money for the Cincinnati Culinary Institute at the country home of Vice Chargé de Mission Clint and Jean Haynes. The event was so successful that this year’s choice for a repeat charity event was easy.
The Haynes generously hosted a pig roast catered by Hilvers Catering at their stunning 142 acre working farm. Each member brought a bottle of their finest wine to share with each other over an exquisitely prepared dinner organized by Vice Charge de Mission Carmen Parks.
During the event, wine left over from previous dinners throughout the year was auctioned off to our members raising $4,425 for the Irwin and Barbara Weinberg Culinary Scholarship Fund. This fund was set up to benefit deserving students at the Midwest Culinary Institute at Cincinnati State. The wines were all expertly selected and presented by Vice Echanson Mike Monnin.
We all thanked the Haynes for promoting fine wine, excellent cuisine, and cherished friendships while raising money for a worthy cause. This author certainly hopes that Bailli George Elliott, Carmen, Mike, and the Haynes will make this an annual collaboration.
