The Cincinnati Bailliage held their annual Young Chef Competition at the Midwest Culinary Institute on November 8, 2015, to see who would advance to the Midwest Regional Competition in Chicago this coming spring. Twenty one talented young chefs competed at the event which was judged by a renowned panel of judges including Chef Jean-Robert de Cavel, Vice Conseiller Gastronomique Honoraire and radio cooking show host Marilyn Harris, local food and wine connoisseur Paul Parks, and Master Chef John Kinsella. The event was skillfully orchestrated by Vice Chargé de Mission Clint Haynes and Vice Chargée de Missions Carmen Parks along with Chef Rôtisseur/MCI Culinary Instructor Alan Neace.
Nick Ellison, John Beihle, and Dapane Piyadassi were awarded first, second, and third place respectively. They were presented with their ribbons and then invited to a celebratory dinner at La Poste Restaurant which is located in the gaslight district of Clifton near the University of Cincinnati. The gracious staff at La Poste treated our members, guests, and competitors to a sumptuous three course dinner complimented by extraordinary wines brought by each member. Through events such as this, our bailliage is proud to show its firm commitment the culinary future of our city by promoting our young talent. Thanks were given to Owners Joe Clark and his wife Chef Angie Willett to host us for a fabulous time.
