The setting for this year’s annual induction dinner of the Cincinnati Bailliage was the prestigious Metropolitan Club across the river in Covington, Kentucky. This iconic club was formed in 1991 and has a panoramic view of the Cincinnati skyline.
Officiating the event was Renee Wilmeth, Bailli Provinciale of the Midwest with Bailli George Elliott assisting in the ceremonies. Eight new members were inducted, and Professionnel du Vin Carmen Parks was advanced to the position of Vice Chargée de Missions. Bailli Provinciale Wilmeth gave all of us a brief overview of the history of the Chaîne followed by the presentations of the ribbons.
Following the induction portion of the program, the gracious staff of the Metropolitan Club wowed our members with offerings including butter poached lobster, short rib ravioli, and roasted lamb loin. These offerings were a result of a well coordinated effort between Vice Conseiller Gastronomique Barbara Lancor and the club staff.
The six-course meal was accompanied by exceptional wines including a 2009 Chapoutier Châteaunef-du-Pape and a 2011 Ornellaia Bolgheri which were expertly chosen by Vice Echanson Mike Monnin and his wine committee.
What a way to welcome new members and future friends into our dynamic bailliage!
