The annual induction dinner for the Cincinnati Baillage was held at the prestigious Metropolitan Club just across the river from downtown Cincinnati. This private club has been a multiyear winner of the “Best View From a Restaurant” award due to its panoramic 360 degree view of the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky skyline.
Bailli Provincial Renee Wilmeth officiated the event with the help of Chicago Bailli Mon Roldan and Cincinnati Bailli George Elliott.
Highlights of the induction included the awarding of the title of Officier Commandeur to Marj Valvano and Marilyn Harris. Bethanie Butcher became the new Vice Chancelier-Argentier, Chuck Hong became our Vice Conseiller Gastronomique, and JT Mayer was given an award for his service as Chargé de Presse Provincial.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, balliage members as well as inductees were treated to a five course gourmet dinner which was the product of months of planning from outgoing Vice Conseiller Gastronomique Barbara Lancor and the meticulous staff of the Metropolitan Club. King Salmon, smoked Kurobuta pork collar, and dry aged prime sirloin were among the courses that were expertly paired with wines by Vice Echanson Mike Monnin and his wine committee.
What a wonderful way to give thanks to past and anticipate the future!
Graig Smith, Vice Chargé de Presse
