The annual holiday dinner for the Cincinnati Bailliage was held on December 17, 2017 at the prestigious Metropolitan Club situated on the Ohio River in Covington, Kentucky. This landmark club was founded in 1991 and is known for its inclusive regional membership, its culinary prowess as well as its commanding view of the Cincinnati skyline.
This holiday event was made possible by Vice Chargé de Presse Honoraire Dan Fay who serves on the Metropolitan Club’s board of directors and board of governors. Members were greeted with passed appetizers followed by a presentation of the Officier Commandeur award by Bailli George Elliott to Mr. Fay who was an integral part of Cincinnati’s Bailliage founding in 1981.
The second award of the evening was the Bronze Medal of Excellence which Bailli Elliott presented to Vice Conseiller Gastronomique Honoraire Marilyn Harris. Ms. Harris is a founding member of the Bailliage and is a culinary legend in the Midwest. She was born in Natchez, Mississippi and honed her culinary skills at the fabled Cordon Bleu. She is the author of four cookbooks and has hosted a radio broadcast called “Cooking with Marilyn” for over 30 years. Following a well-deserved standing ovation for Ms. Harris, members were treated to a magnificent 6-course dinner which was expertly paired with wines chosen by Vice Echanson Mary Horn and her wine committee.
At the conclusion of the meal all in attendance were full of praise for Vice Conseiller Gastronomique Chuck Hong, Bailli Elliott, Echanson Horn, and the staff of the Metropolitan Club for an extraordinary holiday experience.
