Many of our members have a special interest in wine as connoisseurs, restaurateurs, professionals, and those learning more about wine or other crafted beverages. To accommodate those members, the Société Mondiale du Vin (“Mondiale”) was created to promote the enjoyment, knowledge and understanding of fine wines and crafted beverages.
Only members in good standing of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs may be members of Mondiale.
The Cincinnati Bailliage has a strong representation in the Société Mondiale du Vin, having one of the largest memberships in the United States at 50 and a waiting list of 20. We have capped our membership at 50 members to allow us to go to smaller venues for our events as well as allowing us to have events where quantities of rare wines or crafted beverages are limited.
We have three Mondiale events per year primarily featuring wines focused on specific varietals, wine growing regions or individual wineries. From time to time we move away from wine and have events celebrating various crafted beverages such as beer, port, bourbon, tequila, etc. We also are privileged to have a number of sommeliers as members and we’ve held special fundraising events (see Charitable Activites) having three sommeliers competing to find the perfect wine to match with each course prepared by a guest chef. All our events are benefiting our members by furthering their interest in the enjoyment, knowledge and understanding of these fine beverages.
