Phil Gentry Finished First Alternate in 2022 National Young Chef Competition (June 6, 2022)

Chers Confreres:

I’m very pleased to announce that Phil Gentry, our Cincinnati Bailliage and Midwest Province competitor in the Chaine 2022 National Young Chef Competition in Atlanta this past weekend, finished First Alternate, or second place.

Phil competed against 5 other competitors from around the country to determine who would represent the United States in Australia at the Chaine 2023 World Young Chef Competition. Only 2 competitors were chosen in Atlanta: the winner, who was from the Northeast Province, and Phil as First Alternate, who would compete if the winner was not able to, as was the case with last year’s winner.

Phil’s second place finish was quite an accomplishment for him as well as the team that selected him and supported him during his training: Clint Haynes, Jon Powell, Renee Schuler and especially Alan Neace who undertook the training and development of his skills.  Alan will continue to do that as Phil could be called upon to be the US representative in the World competition. Congratulations to all of them, and especially Phil, for their hard work!  Certainly a first for our Bailliage, but definitely not the last!

Finally, a big thanks to Tony and  Austin Ferrari for allowing Phil to take advantage of this opportunity and for their encouragement during the local, regional and national competitions.

Regards,

George Elliott

Welcome to the Cincinnati Bailliage of the Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs!

Chaîne Cincinnati includes local businessmen and women, doctors, lawyers, chefs, wine distributors and retailers as well as others in the food and wine fields. Our Bailliage unites professional and amateur gastronomes in a private, not-for-profit society committed to promoting the culinary arts and those of enology and hospitality through example, education and camaraderie.

As an example, we foster the development of the culinary arts among our community's promising chefs by contributing to the Cincinnati Freestore Foodbank’s culinary education program called Cincinnati Cooks. We raise money for this purpose by asking for voluntary donations from our members annually, holding an annual wine auction and having special fundraising events.

Additionally, the Cincinnati Chaîne is home to an active chapter of Société Mondiale du Vin, an organization dedicated to enjoying and learning about the world of fine wine and spirits. Over the last few years our members have toured internationally renowned wine destinations to further their understanding of those areas and their wines.

The Bailliage de Chaîne des Rôtisseurs Cincinnati is affiliated with the Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, Bailliage des Etats-Unis (United States Chapter), which is associated with the International Headquarters in Paris.

Salut and Vive la Chaîne!
