Cincinnati Mondiale members gathered at Tostado’s Mexican Restaurant for their first ever tequila tasting. Tostado’s is a popular eatery east of downtown Cincinnati near the Ohio River. Owner Hugo Tostado is the heart and soul of this traditional yet innovative restaurant which has received some rave reviews not only for the cuisine but also for the weekly Karaoke night.
The evening was originally conceived by Chambellan Provincial Irwin Weinberg and the details were carried out to perfection by Vice Echanson Mike Monnin.
The speaker for the evening was Professionnel du Vin Mary Horn. Mary is an Advanced Sommelier as well as Certified Specialist of Spirits who currently serves as vice president of fine wine sales and education for the Heidelberg Distributing Company.
She expertly led us through an extremely informative tasting of one mezcal and four tequilas followed by a tasty south of the border dinner. Our baillage is quite fortunate to have someone of Mary’s caliber to educate us in wines and spirits. Not only is Mary a treasure trove of information but she is also a delightful and engaging individual.
At evening’s end, we gave out sincere thanks to Mary, Mike, and Hugo.
