On a wintery day in January, the Cincinnati Bailliage brought a little Napa warmth and sunshine to the midwest by holding a Long Meadow Ranch wine event at the Postmark Event Center. The event center is owned by the hugely successful Red Feather Kitchen group which creates innovative cuisine using farm to table preparations.
Chef Brad Bernstein created an outstanding four course menu that highlighted many of the wines that were presented by the winery. Members were greeted by Vice Echanson Provincial Mary Horn with glasses of Sauvignon Blanc along with carefully prepared appetizers. They were then ushered to two long tables adorned with seven glasses of Long Meadow Ranch wine at each place setting. The wines included a Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and five glasses of Cabernet Sauvignon including 2004 and 2005 library releases.
Vice Echanson Provincial Horn then introduced Brandy Steinhauser who is the midwest sales manager for the wine family. She gave an overview of the winery and introduced the individual wines.
Chef Bernstein then wowed the crowd with three superb offerings including Elk Carpaccio, Crispy Skin Salmon, and Dark Chocolate mousse. Members delighted in being able to compare wines of various vintages and then experience them with each course.
All were united in their praise for an extraordinary event which was the result of thoughtful planning an execution by Ms. Horn and Chef Bernstein. There is no doubt that this winery will see quite a few Cincinnatians on future visits to the Napa Valley
