Chevalier, John Mocker, the vice president of Lally Pipe as well as a member of the CVG board of directors graciously opened his home for Cincinnati Mondiale’s European Brunch on June 2, 2019. Sipping champagne complemented by Funky’s Catering specialties led to members toasting the beautiful sun-splashed day.
Vice Echanson Provincial Midwest, Mary Horn, presented six dazzling French champagne selections, commencing with Veuve Fourny Blanc de Blancs made from old organic vines in the village of Vertus. Champagnes that followed, Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque 2011, Taittinger Prélude Grands Crus, Piper-Heidsieck Rare 2002, and J. Lassalle Spécial Club 2008, sparked lively conversation about the range of notes savored with each offering.
With desserts of assorted macaroons and cannolis, Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé, the most recognized rosé champagne in the world and one of the few rosés still made by the saignée method, offered a spectacular finish.
Chambellan Provincial and Bailli, George Elliott, awarded two Mondiale members, Chevalier Bill James and Chevalier Ken Kenniston with ten-year Commandeur pins, extending congratulations for their years of Chaîne membership.
Those in attendance expressed appreciation for the generosity of Chevalier John Mocker in sharing his gorgeous home, Vice Echanson Provincial Midwest Mary Horn for her expertise in choosing the delicious champagnes, and Michael Forgus of Funky’s Catering for providing the excellent brunch. Elegant champagnes and superb cuisine, further enjoyed while admiring exquisite art, sculpture, and a serene outdoor setting, captured the spirit of a grand afternoon.
